Mallorca Best Beaches: 12 Beautiful Beaches in Mallorca Worth Visiting

Mallorca is a true paradise when it comes to beaches. From long sandy shores and crystal-clear turquoise coves to family-friendly beaches and hidden bays, the island offers an incredible variety of coastal scenery. After visiting Mallorca twice, I had the chance to explore several of the island’s most popular beaches as well as a few quieter spots that are often overlooked.

In this guide to the Mallorca best beaches, I’ve collected the beaches that impressed me the most and the ones I personally think are worth visiting. You’ll find everything from lively resort beaches with excellent infrastructure to smaller, scenic coves surrounded by nature.

If I had to recommend just one area to stay in Mallorca for a beach vacation, Cala Millor would probably be my top choice. Its long sandy beach, relaxed atmosphere, and great-value accommodations make it an excellent base for exploring the island.

1. Port de Sóller – Platja den Repic / Sóller Playa

Mallorca’s west coast is mostly known for its dramatic mountain scenery and charming villages rather than its beaches. Still, I think the beach in Port de Sóller is definitely worth a stop, especially if you arrive from Sóller on the famous historic tram, which is already an experience on its own.

The long stretch of Platja den Repic and Sóller Playa is ideal for relaxing and spending a few peaceful hours by the sea. The mountains rising in the background give the area a very unique atmosphere. Along the promenade, you’ll find restaurants and cafés while the historic tram slowly passes by the beachfront.

For a calmer seaside experience, this is one of the most atmospheric beaches in Mallorca.

Recommended activity: Take a boat trip from Sóller to Sa Calobra and Torrent de Pareis.

2. Alcúdia – Platja d’Alcúdia

Platja d’Alcúdia is one of the most famous and popular beaches in Mallorca, mainly thanks to its long sandy shoreline and excellent infrastructure. The shallow, gradually deepening water also makes it a great option for families with children.

The beach is lined with hotels, apartments, restaurants, and shops, making it perfect for travelers looking for a convenient beach resort with plenty of facilities. Water sports are also very popular here.

What made Alcúdia especially memorable for me was its beautiful old town. Surrounded by medieval walls, it’s one of the prettiest towns in Mallorca and definitely worth visiting in addition to spending time at the beach.

Unfortunately, the weather was quite cloudy during our visit, which you can probably tell from the photos. Even though we couldn’t fully enjoy a beach day, we still loved the atmosphere of the area.

3. Alcúdia – Platja de Muro

Located right next to Alcúdia, Platja de Muro is considered by many to be one of the Mallorca best beaches. The beach stretches for several kilometers, with soft white sand and shallow crystal-clear water, making it especially popular among families.

Behind the beach, you’ll find hotels, beach bars, and restaurants, although some sections remain quieter and more natural.

4. Cala Mesquida – Platja de Sa Mesquida

Cala Mesquida stood out to me mainly because of its spectacular natural surroundings. The beach is surrounded by impressive sand dunes, and wooden walkways lead through the protected landscape. Compared to many larger resort beaches in Mallorca, the atmosphere here feels much more natural and untouched.

We visited during very windy weather, so the waves were much bigger than usual. While that made conditions better for surfers and water sports enthusiasts, it wasn’t the most ideal day for swimming.

Still, the beach itself is wide, sandy, and incredibly scenic, so I think it’s worth visiting even if you’re not planning a full beach day. For me, this was one of the most unique beaches in Mallorca.

5. Cala Millor – Platja de Cala Millor

If I had to recommend just one destination among the Mallorca best beaches for a vacation, Cala Millor would definitely be near the top of my list.

The long sandy beach stretches for nearly 1.8 kilometers and offers excellent infrastructure while still maintaining a relaxed vacation atmosphere. Hotels, restaurants, bars, and shops line the beachfront promenade, so everything is within walking distance.

The beach is wide and well-maintained, making it suitable for both families and couples. Water sports are also widely available in the area.

What I personally loved most about Cala Millor was the lively yet relaxed seaside promenade and the pleasant atmosphere in the evenings. If you’re looking for a destination that combines beach life, restaurants, and good infrastructure, Cala Millor is an excellent choice.

In many ways, it offers a similar experience to Alcúdia but with a calmer atmosphere and often better hotel prices directly near the beach.

6. Cala Formentor – Platja de Formentor

Platja de Formentor is one of the most famous beaches in Mallorca, mainly because of its breathtaking natural surroundings. Pine trees and mountains frame the beach while the water is crystal-clear and intensely blue.

Although the beach is undeniably beautiful, I think it works best as a scenic stop or shorter beach visit while exploring the Formentor Peninsula. During the high season, the famous lighthouse can only be reached by shuttle bus, while cars must be left at the parking area near the beach.

The area gets very busy in summer, especially when it comes to parking and traffic, but it’s still worth visiting if you’re exploring northern Mallorca.

7. Es Trenc – Platja des Trenc

Es Trenc is often considered one of the most beautiful natural beaches in Mallorca, and it’s easy to understand why once you see its long white sandy shoreline and turquoise water.

Unlike many of Mallorca’s resort beaches, there are no large hotel complexes directly behind the beach, giving the area a much more untouched and natural atmosphere.

Parking is paid, but from there it’s only a short walk to the beach. The water is shallow, calm, and crystal-clear, making it ideal for swimming and relaxing.

The infrastructure is more limited compared to larger resort areas, but I think that’s exactly what gives Es Trenc its charm. If you’re looking for a more natural beach experience in Mallorca, this is one of the best choices.

When we visited, a storm was approaching, which created some incredibly dramatic light conditions.

Near the access road, you’ll also find the Salinas d’Es Trenc salt flats, where visitors can learn about the island’s traditional sea salt production.

8. Caló del Moro

Caló del Moro is one of the most famous hidden coves in southeastern Mallorca and is especially known for its unbelievably turquoise water.

The small sandy cove is surrounded by cliffs, creating a truly spectacular setting. From the free parking area, it takes about 10–15 minutes to walk to the beach, and the final section can be fairly steep.

Because of this, I wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for families with very small children or travelers looking for fully developed beach facilities.

The beach itself is relatively small, so it gets crowded quickly during summer. Still, because of its colors and dramatic scenery, it was one of the most visually stunning beaches I visited in Mallorca.

It’s also worth stopping at nearby Cala s’Almunia, a rocky cove where you can swim and enjoy the crystal-clear water.

9. Cala d’Or – Cala Gran and Cala Petita

Cala d’Or is one of the best-known resort towns in southeastern Mallorca. The area has a very distinctive atmosphere thanks to its whitewashed buildings and well-kept streets.

We visited Cala Gran, a smaller cove-style beach with beautiful turquoise water. Compared to long sandy beaches like Cala Millor or Alcúdia, the beach is relatively compact, but its atmosphere makes it especially memorable.

The area is also popular for snorkeling and pedal boat rentals. If you’re searching for smaller scenic coves among the Mallorca best beaches, Cala d’Or is a fantastic option.

10. Porto Cristo – Platja de Porto Cristo

Porto Cristo is a charming harbor town on Mallorca’s east coast, best known for its famous cave systems. However, the town center also has a pleasant sandy beach.

Platja de Porto Cristo is not one of the island’s largest beaches, but the combination of the marina, restaurants, and relaxed atmosphere makes it a very enjoyable place to spend a few hours.

I think Porto Cristo works best as a half-day program combined with sightseeing, especially if you also want to visit the nearby caves.

11. Canyamel – Platja de Canyamel

Canyamel Beach is a peaceful and scenic beach on Mallorca’s eastern coast. Surrounded by pine forests and cliffs, the area feels much more natural than some of the island’s larger resort destinations.

The water is crystal-clear and usually calm, making it ideal for families and travelers looking for a quieter beach experience.

Although we didn’t spend time directly on the beach, we were able to admire the coastline from a nearby viewpoint, and the scenery was beautiful.

12. Palma – Playa de Palma and Surroundings

Located close to Palma, Playa de Palma is one of the easiest beaches to access on the island and also one of the liveliest.

The long sandy beach is lined with hotels, restaurants, beach bars, and shops, creating a vibrant vacation atmosphere. Because of its location, it’s a great option for travelers who want to combine sightseeing in Palma with beach time.

The beach is wide, comfortable, and very well-equipped. Palma’s historic center is also easy to reach from the beach area.

However, Playa de Palma can feel very busy and touristy during the summer months, so travelers looking for quieter beaches may prefer other parts of Mallorca.

If you prefer dramatic scenery and smaller turquoise coves, then places like Caló del Moro, Cala Mesquida, or Es Trenc will probably become some of your favorite beaches in Mallorca.
