Here’s a curated list of the most beautiful lofoten beaches, from hidden gems to famous photo spots — many of which I’ve visited myself.

For me, one of the most special experiences I had in Lofoten was at Midnight Sun in June on Uttakleiv beach. Before that, we did the Mannen hike with a wonderful panorama of Vik, Haukland and Uttakleiv beach.

Lofoten Beaches You Can Drive To
Not all Lofoten beaches require a hike — some are just off the main road and perfect for quick stops, beach picnics, or spontaneous photo sessions.
Ramberg Beach
Located right along the E10, this long stretch of white sand is one of the most popular lofoten beaches — and for good reason. With turquoise waters and mountain views, it’s an ideal stop even if you’re just passing through.
Skagsanden Beach
Found near the village of Flakstad, this beach is a favorite among photographers and ideal for picnics, especially during the midnight sun. Great parking and facilities nearby.
Myrland Beach
A hidden gem west of Leknes, this beach is rising in popularity thanks to its peaceful setting and photogenic rock formations. Don’t be surprised that you can only get there on a gravel road.
Sunset & Midnight Sun Favorites
These lofoten beaches shine brightest during summer nights when the sun never sets. Be sure to visit the western beaches in the midnight sun. The absolute best beaches are on Vestvågøy Island.
Vik Beach
Often overlooked because it is located next to the two more famous beaches below. This just means fewer people and more space to enjoy the view.
Haukland Beach
Repeatedly listed asone of the most beautiful beaches in Norway. Easy to access, family-friendly, and absolutely stunning in the evening light. It is the starting point for the Mannen hike, which offers magnificent views of three beaches.

Ultimate 7-Day Lofoten Islands Itinerary
Uttakleiv Beach
Just past a tunnel from Haukland, this beach feels more isolated but is still quite popular. Expect scenic views, rounded rocks, and camper vans lined up for the midnight sun.
Eggum Beach
Known for its excellent midnight sun visibility. The beach features a mix of white sand and rocky shoreline, plus a WWII radar station and a small visitor center. Popular with wild campers in summer.

Remote & Wild Beaches (Only Accessible on Foot)
These beaches require a bit of effort to reach, but the reward is total immersion in nature — no roads, no wires, no crowds.
Bunes Beach
Accessible via a short ferry ride from Reine to Vindstad, followed by an easy 1-hour hike. The sheer size of Bunes is awe-inspiring — wide, open, and framed by steep cliffs. A perfect introduction to Lofoten’s wild coastline.
Horseid Beach
Also reached via ferry from Reine, but the hike is longer and more demanding. Horseid is remote, rugged, and rarely crowded. One for adventurers seeking solitude and raw Arctic beauty.
Kvalvika Beach
This dreamy cove is just a 45–60 minute hike from Fredvang. The trail is relatively easy and passes through a low mountain pass before opening up to one of the most iconic lofoten beaches, backed by towering peaks. Sunset here is magical. This hike was on my bucket list but unfortunately we couldn’t do it because of the weather.

Lesser-Known Spots and Lofoten Beaches for Surfing
Lesser-known beaches that are also worth a visit.
Storsandnes Beach
A quieter alternative to Haukland and Uttakleiv, especially popular in shoulder seasons. Faces north — making it a good spot for watching the Northern Lights in winter.
Rørvikstranda
Located near Svolvær and often missed by guidebooks. If you’re heading to Henningsvær, this beach is worth a quick stop — surprisingly pretty and uncrowded.
Unstad Beach
The surfing capital of Lofoten. Framed by dramatic mountains and home to a few surf schools and cafés, this beach is a must for active travelers. Waves are consistent, but watch out for seaweed!
